Art Dell, PE is a Senior Project Manager with SOHA Engineers in San Francisco, CA where he manages design projects ranging from seismic retrofits to deep shoring and underpinning. As a former welding inspector and construction supervisor, his interest in construction quality assurance extends from the needs of the workers on the ground to those of the design engineer and project owner. Art is a past chair of SEAONC`s and SEAOC`s Construction Quality Assurance Committees and a former member of NCSEA`s Quality Assurance/Special Inspection Subcommittee of the Code Advisory Committee. He has participated in each of the code change cycles since the introduction of the International Building Code in 2000, and has lectured on welding procedure specifications, AWS D1.8, the quality assurance provisions of AISC 341, Chapters 17 and 18 of the 2010 California Building Code, and concrete mix design review.
